Also having a package tour means that you can also have benefits of facilities like guided tour etc. Therefore when you are taking on a package tour make sure that you have all the Tate galleries on your list. This gallery was actually a power station. It was transformed into a gallery in the year of 1947 and 1963. The multiple dates are because the gallery was converted in two phases. The documentary of the gallery is very interesting and is also available to public where it lists the various events that took place while conversion of the gallery as well as sneak peaks into lives of people who are responsible for the conversion of the gallery. The gallery is very popular among the people in London as well as the tourists who are visiting London. This would mean that you would not have too much trouble in finding the gallery even if you were visiting alone. Also the entry to the gallery is free for most of the permanent exhibits and also some of the temporary exhibits.
The collection in the gallery is quite remarkable with beautiful pieces of
modern art from the year of 1900 onwards. Also it features some of the most
contemporary art forms. There are about five floors of the museum. The second
level has a collection of contemporary artists. The third and the fifth level
specialize in displaying the selected collections of the Tate galleries. These
are the galleries that you defiantly must visit if you are a lover of modern
art. These galleries contain perhaps some of the best contemporary art of our
times. The fourth floor is a huge area of space where temporary exhibitions are
put up. Some of the most famous exhibitions of the world are put up here
attracting tourists and art lovers from all over the world to the Tate gallery.
The collections in the art gallery are not arranged in a chronological order.
Instead they are arranged in a thematic order in which each painting belongs to
a particular category or theme. The Tate gallery is also planning to expand by
the year of 2012 where in more themes and more works of modern art from all over
the world will be added.
